Better Bandwidth Utilization of Multiple Link Capacities with Mutual Traffic Correlation

In satellite communication networks the MAC protocol (Medium Access Control) plays an important role in the efficient utilization of scarce bandwidth resources. There exist many DAMA (Demand Assignment Multiple Access) protocols that operate in this mode; see Koutsakis [ ]. With such network management technique the network provider (NP) can efficiently allocate and distribute the scarce and valuable capacity on satellite among the requesting users on the ground e.g. service providers (SPs). End-to-end resource management for such systems is the key to deliver acceptable Quality of Service (QoS) to services while providing adequate efficiency.
